What do clients like best about working with you?

Like many entrepreneurs, when I started Proxy PR 12 years ago, I had an idea of a better kind of PR agency. I’d worked at other PR agencies that didn’t seem to invest the time to understand their clients’ businesses and ultimately felt like transactional relationships. I didn’t want that kind of agency, nor did I think it was to the benefit of either party – the client or the agency. I believe there’s great business value in true partnership, and so that’s what I set out to do. It makes me very proud to know that our clients experience this — and I know that they do because they tell us, week after week.

Random Fact

I moved from Ohio to New York City 25 years ago with my two dogs, a pick-up truck, and all my belongings in the back. That truck got towed, and it was just the start of the joyous ride which has been living in NYC.

What do you love about Proxy?

I love Proxy because every day I am working with people I truly enjoy, whether that’s our team internally or our clients. Yes, we work hard, but I also laugh a lot with my co-workers and colleagues, and I love that. Internally, we have a positive culture that is built on mutual respect. We take care of each other and grow together as a team.

Our clients, of course, are also amazing. Everyone says that, I know. But we definitely have the best clients. For one, I always learn from our clients, and I love that every day is a new adventure in that way. But also, many of our clients have become friends over the years we have been working together, and I love that as well.

What is one of your successes that you are most proud of and why?

I am very proud that Proxy’s first client is still a client today, and not only that, that we’ve grown that business over the years. I’m proud of this for a number of reasons – I think it demonstrates our ability to be continuously creative and effective. If we weren’t great at what we do, we wouldn’t be able to keep any relationship for 1 year, let alone 12. I think it also shows that we invest in our relationships. We wouldn’t be able to sustain a relationship if we didn’t truly care and invest in it year over year.

Desert Island book/music/movie and why?

This is an impossible question and I am the one that included it! There’s really no way to decide on just one movie, but if I had to, I would probably take Sunset Boulevard. I just never get tired of Gloria Swanson’s performance and am mesmerized each time.

When I’m not working hard for clients, you can find me:

Outside. I’m a nature lover, so you’ll find me hiking in the Adirondacks, in one of our amazing National Parks, surfing at Rockaway Beach.
